Heavily-armed militants attacked installations of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) near Balochistan's Gwadar port early Sunday, martyring one CAA officer and kidnapping another.
The pre-dawn attack, which took place in Jiwani area of Balochistan near Gwadar around 3:00AM, also resulted in damage to CAA equipment while another officer was also injured.Khalil Ullah, an electronics superintendent of the CAA posted in Jiwani, lost his life in the attack, while superviser Altaf Hussain was wounded. The terrorists took Mehmood Ullah, an electronics engineer posted at the installation, with them as they escaped.
Sources said the attackers also damaged technical aviation equipment and destroyed the VOR system that helps during the landing of aircraft.Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Malik Baloch has ordered the commissioner in Makran district to submit a report into the incident. He has also ordered authorities to act against the terrorists using full force.
The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has accepted responsibility of the attack.Security forces and law enforcement authorities launched a search operation to track the attackers and recover the abducted CAA engineer. So far, no headway has been made in the investigation.
