Premium Times editor arrested by SSS
An editor with Premium Times online newspaper, Ibanga Isine, was yesterday October 6th arrested and detained for several hours by operatives of the State Security Service SSS during the trial of alleged mastermind of the 2010 independence day bombing, Charles Okah, the brother of MEND leader, Henry Okah.
According to reports, Ibanga was arrested by the SSS officials shortly after Charles Okah had tried to commit suicide during court proceedings. Ibanga's phones and other electronic devices were confiscated, making it impossible for him to reach his office to inform them of his arrest.
He was held at the SSS headquarters for several hours before he was moved to the service’s office at Asokoro in Abuja. He was subsequently released after he was able to make contact with his office yesterday night. No reason was given for his arrest.
